Frequently Asked Questions
What Can We Answer for You?
Is there a cancellation fee if I need to cancel my project?
No! Our proposals include a no-money-down, no cancellation fee policy if you change your mind.
What are the benefits of vinyl siding?
Unlike wood or aluminum siding, quality vinyl siding does not rot, dent or require painting. It’s waterproof and weather resistant and comes in many colors and textures for your customization. Many unique looks are able to be created with vinyl siding, such as Cedar Shake siding, Board and Batten Siding, or Hidden Vent soffits.
Vinyl siding is low maintenance and hassle-free, which is why many of our customers choose to replace their existing wood or aluminum siding.
What factors go into deciding whether you need a new roof?
The age of your current roof, how many layers of shingles are on the roof, the severity of any damage to the shingles, and the flashing. If you notice any water or moisture getting inside your attic or if there are signs of mold on the decking in the attic, reach out to us for a no-pressure estimate and inspection. Our team specializes in asphalt shingles, but we also have great referrals for metal roofing companies in the Detroit metro area.
How can you tell if your roof is in bad shape?
If you have a lot of missing shingles, if the shingles are losing granules, or if there are any signs of water damage, it may be time for a new roof. If you don’t want the hassle of a salesperson, feel free to email us some photos of the issues and see if we can help with a roof repair. If your roofing material is over 20 years old, it is likely time for a roof inspection. If your home has a metal roof or slate roof, those can last much longer; however, we do not service those residential roofing systems.
Is there anything I can do to extend the life of my current roof?
You can extend the life of your current roof by regularly cleaning it and repairing any damage. Make sure to trim trees so their branches don’t rub against the roof, and keep an eye out for leaks. We do not recommend homeowners access their roofs for their roof repairs and instead reach out to a qualified roofing contractor to help.
What’s the average lifespan of a roof?
The average lifespan of a roof can vary depending on the material, type of roofing, installation quality, and weather conditions. However, most roofs last between 15 and 20 years. To get the longest life out of your roof, we recommend installing SBS shingles such as the CertainTeed Northgate ClimateFLEX. Many of the best roofing contractors will also recommend modified SBS shingles due to the ice and snow we get on our roofing systems.
How much does a new roof cost?
The actual cost of roofing services varies greatly depending on the size of your home, the material, and the type of roofing you choose. You can expect to pay anywhere from $7,000 to $30,000 for a new roof. Check out our instant roof quote tool for an instant roof quote on your home. Many roof installers want to come out in person for a sales pitch, but we want you to see our fair prices up front. Our family-owned business is here to make this as straightforward as possible.
Should I hire a local roofing contractor to install my new roof, or can I do it myself?
We always recommend hiring a professional roofer for a new house roof installation, as they have the experience and know-how to get the job done right. We staff our projects appropriately to ensure almost every job is completed in one day vs. many DIY projects that can last a week or longer. Check out our project gallery page to see how we tear off an existing roof and install the new roofing materials one day!
Any tips for choosing a good roofing company?
When looking for a reliable roofing company, ask for referrals and read reviews online. Ensure they are fully licensed and insured, and ask for examples of their previous work. Ask if your contractors are certified by the manufacturer, and pick a company that has been in business as long as their warranty on a new roof.
How long does it take to install a new roof?
Almost all of our roof replacements can be completed in one day! Your project may take longer if we run into inclement weather or if you have a particularly large or complex roof.
How long has Tresnak Roofing been in business?
We’ve been in business in the Metro Detroit area since 1984!

Yes! We’re certified as CertainTeed Shingle Masters and are able to offer our customers the best products and warranties around.
